Starting OVER!! Need suggestions!
« on: November 06, 2004, 01:35:32 pm »
Ok,
Ive been pounding the forums for the last 2 days to no recourse. I have a 34" older SharpImage monitor that was working well with arcadeos and Advmame. I felt that the load times could have improved, and I wanted to be able to run Dragons lair/Space ace as well. I know most everyone swears by a ArcadeVGA card and Mamewah. I found a card on Ebay, and got it. I found out its the older 7000 series, which shouldnt make much of a diffrence. I loaded in xp sp2, and attempted setup. I cant get the modes right for some odd reason. Then I figured its because my monitor likes 8 bit color (as seen in advmame), and I cant get that mode on the windows desktop in xp. So ive been trying 98, and Its actually worse. Ive put up a couple posts in the software forum, but no replies. So im hoping that someone on the hardware end can guide/advise me on which os (xp-dos-linux) and which FE and version of mame (mame - mamepp -advmame).
I thought setting up advmame was tough, but this just sucks. I would hate to put my old rage pro card back in and go back to advmame and dos, but thats what im getting down too.
Someone PLEASE help me and show me WHY this ArcadeVGA card IS so awsome, becasue  so far im not impressed. At least the POST screen comes up perfectly. :P

Is your 34" monitor a computer monitor or an arcade monitor.

ArcadeVGA is really only for use with an arcade monitor, not for a computer monitor.
