Theres not much more here than the title except I'd like it to be less than a thousand bucks, and somewhat arcade friendly.

Thanx for any help

I wasn't aware that they made monitors that size in that resolution.

well, there is this one, and it looks really good but it is an additional $500 to make that step up.

They are not very easy to come by....

Don't look for any kind of PC Monitors, your best bet is to look around for "Multimedia monitors" or Presentation monitors - ones that are to be used to display in public places or in corporate presentations.

I have an old Hantarex thats 28" that will do 800x600 and 1024x748 interlaced (just - it needs some TLC....).

Look for old NEC presentation monitors - not sure if they go up to 1024 but they also go right down to arcade resolutions and are on of the best all round solutions if you ask me.

They all tend to be built like tanks (mines around 50kg) as designed for transport as professional kit.

My 36" NEC weighs in at about 250lbs.  You better have a sturdy cab if you're looking for something like this.

@EyeDoc.

Could I ask which model NEC it is? And do you know what it can do? Some of these Nec's can do 15Khz, then anything from 31Khz up (i.e. tv signal + pc monitor) but some - apparantly - can do the full range of 15-Svga etc.. - so authentically do any arcade res. Trying to get some more info....

Cheers

Wow, that one does look really good. I never heard of the company so I hope those last remaining 3 are around long enough for me to check them out and also to find out if it would fit the slikstik cab with those speakers on the sides........I hope so cause it looks perfect.

I'm using an NEC XV29+.  I think it's about six or seven years old.  Picked it up for $150 on Craigslist.  You might check there if you have one for your area.

A caveat:  The monitor works great with ATI cards, but has been giving me problems since I installed an Nvidia card in my machine.

PM'd ya, Silver. :)

edit:  Silver pointed out the error of my ways and now the monitor is working just fine.  Thanks, Silver!
