front end suggestion

Anyone know of a really easy to use front end that looks professional for my cab? I've been using mamewah for about 2 or 3 years now, and yes it's nice, it works, and it's fast, but I just want a change.

Out of my 2900 games i filtered 238 of them (the ones I always play)

so it's got to be able to filter games like that

if anyone has any suggestions let me know

Personaly i like DK , you can setup a hot key to mark games as "favorites" and they will be listed in their own section , not to mention you can sort by game type , year , mfgr , etc .. whatever feild is in the dat files ( cmpro type of dats ) , not to mention the default skin looks cool as is , but it's fully customizable , you can even switch skins when you change catagories ( i.e. one skin for mamy games , another for snes ones etc )

Try Ultrastyle.  I looks great!  It has a favorites key but not alot of sorting options yet.

I would but I hate working on my cab that's why I asked. It freezes up when using windows for some reason to update stuff because it's a copied install or something. I changed mobo's but dind't format or something i dunno i'm not sure why it does that, works fine for mame , but if i fiddle in windows too long it freezes, lol

real pity because on xp it's pretty easy to set up (i'm hopeless with this stuff) and looks quite good (doesn't look windowsy), even without using the marquee feature...

Check out Kymaera, It's simple to set up, and it looks great. You can also import MameWah skins.

Kymaera is a still a relatively new Front End. With MinWah's help, I was able to write a layout to skin importer. It works for the main screen fairly well. The only thing it doesn't do is vertical skins and preserving the fonts(sometimes).

Kymaera can do a lot. This importer is there to help leverage the time and effort that other people have put into making MameWah skins. I'm not a graphic artist myself, so I didn't try to design too many skins. Joymonkey is the one who created all the default skins for Kymaera so far. I made the vertical skin based off of some of his horizontal layouts.

Why you are thinking kymaera and mamewah are same.

kamaera has a game list at its left and mamewah has at its right side,are these looks same.

frontend should be customiseable.MameWah and Kymaera are fully compatible.You can disign your own skin as you like.

when I composed a mamewah skin it was just only a JPG file,i modified it in Adobe Photoshop and simply open it in Mamewah layout disginer as a background image.No need for main logo and and backdrop after this.

you can move the mamewah gamelist wherever you want, if you're going to make an informative post, at least get the info correct.

Agreed.... I didn't like the way he backhanded pmf.  Comparing his fe to mamewah simply because of looks is ridiculous.  Just shows his lack of appreciation for all of our hard work.

They are both good FE's, but they do not have the same features and they do not work the same way.  The skin importer in Kymaera is a new feature that will let people choose from the many Mamewah skins that are out there if they do not like the look of the default Kymaera skins and do not have the skills to do it themselves.

I don't see any disrepect coming from Steve at all.  Howard is .... well..just being Howard. He tends be brutally honest.  Aside from that, you seem to be the one with a bad attitude in tis thread.
