What is the best solution when using a TV

To make it work like a PC monitor does in that when the computer is turned off the TV will turn off, or perhaps maybe just an outside switch? How hard would it be to take a TV casing off so i can reach the switch and solder wires to extend the switch to something like a pushbutton

My solution was to use the remote control, and create an eye hole in the bezel for the TV's IR Sensor. After cutting the bezel to size for the cab, I measured the location of the sensor and transfered that measurement to the bezel. I cut the eye hole with the same hole cutter as for the buttons and sticks.

This solution works great because I can control the inputs on the tv in addition to the on-off function.

I use a smartstrip from Bits ltd. I have my computer set up as the hot plug, and everything else turns on along with the computer. Pretty neat stuff. Do a search for their site.

It is really easy. Lay the tv down on the carpet, with the tube on the carpet. Take the plastic frame off, locate the power button and solder it up to be remote.

You WILL need to be able to think on your own to do this. You will have to look at the TV PCB and determine the exact method to use. The most I am going to be able to tell you is that it is easy, because it is.
