Can I sell this on Ebay?
« on: November 01, 2004, 03:53:01 pm »
This is a Jakks 5-in-1 ms pac, galaga, etc.  Daewoo 13" tv.  The artwork I printed at home.  Tmolding is on order.   Buttons replaced with leafs.  DC power supply so no more batteries.

If I list this on Ebay, will I get in trouble because of the artwork?  Can I even sell this on Ebay?  Could I list it on ebay with something covering the artwork?

There are other outlets I can explore to sell it, but ebay would be easiest.

Also, does anyone have a ballpark to ship something like this?  Approx. 24"x30"x20"  made of 3/4 particle board so 35lbs.

Thanks for any insights.

I had a Radio Scanner pulled by ebay because I mentioned that it was capable of recieving cellular if modified.  (Mine wasn't, but these are very in demand)   They pulled the auction with only a warning.  I resubmitted the same listing minus a few words and it sold anyway.

You are probably in safer territory with this cab.

There was a guy selling almost the exact same thing on eBay a few months ago, and it looked like he was getting bids.

His mini-cab was awful, too, and he had Photoshopped in the screen picture with no word in the auction if the TV was included or not...

Nice work.  I like the design a whole lot.

If they do pull it for copyright issues, you'll get back your listing fees anyhow.

There have been several on the 'Bay lately.  I think you'll be fine.

In fact, I'm doing one as well.  It's in a mini Midway style cabiner, with both the Pac Man and the Ms Pac Man PCB things in it.  It's quite a creative hack.

I am going to try listing this on the weekend.

Peale:  As far as 13"tvs go for the bartops, the Daewoo is <$70 @ bestbuy.  It powers on automatically when power is restored and returns to the "line in" channel automatically also.  Perhaps you already have a tv choice, but if not, the Daewoo is nice for this project.

If you feel like sharing the "schematic" of that creative hack I would love to see it.

Check out UPS and Fedexs websites for quote on it.

For your ebay ad, make sure you have some good pictures of it.  It is a very nice looking cab so be sure to show it off properly.

Thanks for the headsup on the Daewoo, too.  May check into that for an upcoming project.

They have a Daewoo @ Wal-Mart I've been eyeing.  What model # is yours?

As for the hack, I'll share that in a bit.

You should have installed a real joystick though.  :-[

If he had put in a real joystick, he couldn't play Pole Position!  That box has a 270 pot at the bottom for steering.  It would be interesting to get a real joystick/pot combo to go in there though.

My solution is to use a 4/8 way Omni Stick and a "spinner" consisting of the POT coming thru the panel with a knob.  Wish I could make it spring back to center, though.

I have no idea what the model # is.  Sorry.  All the paperwork went in the trash last week.  I figured the warranty would be void once I cut the power cord.  Now the tv is encased in particle board.  I could get it out but it would be a pain in the rear.

Just a simple innocent question;

when they pull your auction against your will, do they refund posting fees? I'd be pissed if they didn't.

Grr...Oh well, guess I can always just try it out.  If it doesn't work, I have an idea for a quick power of with a relay.

And you say it's encased?  you didn't build the thing with a removable door?

The easiest way to slide the tv in was through the front.  The tv cavity is wedge shaped, so I couldn't get it in through the back.  So, to get the tv out, I would have to remove the control panel, then the plexi, then the front "bezel".  Once inside, there is 10lbs in  a 5lb box if you know what I mean.

ps  look for it on ebay sunday night.

JimmyJet,

I don't think you will have trouble selling it on ebay.  It depends on how much money you want for it.

You could sell it at an arcade auction, they sell all kinds of stuff there including mame machines and cherry masters, etc.

I don't know where you live, but the link is www.gameroommagazine.com/shows

I wouldn't sell it at the auction until everybody gets their tax check, for some reason you can get higher prices in March/April than you can any other time of the year.

But as the other people said, the only thing ebay would do is pull the listing.  I'd sell it in both Arcade Machines and Parts and accessories.

For the shipping cost, go to the usps.com or ups.com websites and they have shipping calculators, it depends on where you ship it, and that you don't know.  I'd say it would cost upwards of $25, but that's a guess.
