Normalize Audio Output?
« on: November 01, 2004, 03:15:39 pm »
Hi all, well in finally got my Ms. Pacman up and running over the weekend, and I was wondering if there was any version of mame that had an audio normalizing feature. As we all know the volume level varies from game to game, and it would be nice if there was a program that could automatically keep the volume at a certain level. I really dont wanna drill a hole in my cab for an external volume knob for the speakers in it.

any help? I searched and couldnt come up with anything.

thanks.

you can set the volume for any individual game (or group of games base on the same driver) by making an ini file for that game. I can't remember what the volume setting, I thinkg just "volume" and you specify an attenuation (0 = loudest)

advmame has this feature....it doesn't work quite right on all the games though (galaga for one) but for those games you could just disable that feature in advmame.rc
Personally I set the default volume down some and manually set the volume for the oddballs in advmame.rc
