WG4600 adjustment help please
« on: October 30, 2004, 08:52:34 am »
I installed a cap kit, put in a switcher in the cabinet (lost tomb), installed a jumper from gnd to fg on the switcher.  I can't get the vertical hold to hold.  Is there another adjustment I should be looking for?  The pot on the daughterboard I installed- does that need adjustment?

When adjusting the colors on the monitor, where should I start?  Do I turn the rgb pots all the way down and slowly turn them up?  Do I start with them all the way up and slowly turn them down?  How do you pros adjust them?

Thank you for any enlightenment.

What is the "P" number of the video interface board installed on your monitor? It should be on a paper label on the parts side of the board. You may need to unplug the board and bring it out in the open to see the label. Some boards only accept positive sync, some only take negative sync, while others accept either type. It all depends on the "P" number.

That pot you installed is on the video interface board and it adjusts the "Black Level" which is just another name for brightness. Yes you need to adjust this as it may be too low right now causing your colors to look too dark.

Also, on the plug-in hor/vert (a.k.a. "X-Y" board) there may be a jumper wire soldered across Resistor R351. This wire is on the foil side of the board. Cutting this jumper gives the sync circuit more range.

Here is the pinout for the P305 board:

Video/positive sync input (P205) pinout:
1: Video red
2: Video green
3: Video blue
4: Ground
5: Vertical positive sync
6: Horizontal positive sync

Negative sync connector (P204) pinout:
1: Ground (same as pin 4 on the above connector)
2: Vertical negative sync
3: Horizontal negative sync

What you want to do is run you sync wire from your game board to both pins 2 & 3 of connector P204. The video ground wire from the game board can connector to either pin 4 of P205 or pin 1 of P204. This should get your sync right. You may need to adjust the horiz hold and vert hold pots on the hor/vert board. See also Bob Roberts webpage section on "My monitor is slanted".
