skip_validitychecks

anyone knows what is "skipped" when this new option is enabled? I can't find documentation.

Edit: I can see it bypasses a bunch checks in the code, but waht I'm aksing is should I ever see one of those validity checks fail on a 0.88 romset? what's the exposure to skipping the checks?
(The plus side is of course that you won't get stuck or see a window box pop up under your front end telling you a check failed).

What does it skip?

If it is bad rom file use 64street to try it out.  Or is it sound/video problems it skips?

I think the validity checks are for the MAME devs only really, to verify that drivers submitted are OK.  There was a lot of debate about it at mame.net, but it seems they gave in and added this option...

I think it is fine to skip the checks all the time - effectively that's how it worked pre 0.87 anyway.  On old PC's the checks can take several minutes (every time a game is launched), apparently.
