Project: Taito Classics
« on: October 29, 2004, 11:38:51 am »
http://www.pealefamily.net/tech/newmame/index.php?cat=8

So I've had this severely water damaged Taito cab for three years now.  Been in my mom's garage.  It was supposed to be there for two weeks.   :o

Finally I had the bright idea that I would build a new cab using the old as a template.

Didn't have to!  A guy in Connecticut offered one up for free, all I had to do was pick it up.  I couldn't believe how good the condition is!

It sat in my van for a good couple weeks, as I have no more room in our apartment.  One day I got fed up, dragged it out, removed the conversion sideart, and cleaned it up, vacumming it, etc.

My plan is to do a 'Multi-Taito' with it, using horizontal games like Jungle Hunt/King and Elevator Action.  What other games fit into this category?

i seem to recall over the course of some research reading about the possibility of a small handfull of red duramold sinistars being manufactured during sinistars rollout.. whether or not they were protoypes or, ever existed at all for that matter whom knows.
but i do find it intriguing whenever i see a red duramold now :P

having a sinistar duramold is next on my wanted cab list/

That's not my cabinet (the red Duramold) I just posted a picture of the cab before I did anything to it.  It's the picture the guy who had it before me sent me.

As for the Duramold, it's been painted.  It has some paint on it from a previous conversion, and removing it was proving to be very difficult.  So he painted it red, and it's going to be a Multi-Williams.

Colony 7, IIRc, is a vertical game.  Good choices on the rest, though.

Aww.  :(

I guess if you look at the lightbox you can see red overspray on the bulb and a blue panel... I guess that was a Bubbles.

Another mystery solved!

If you're doing Taito classics, You've gotta get a Taito rotary aim&fire controller, for Frontline.

Yeah, that would be a *vertical* game.

mmmmmmmmm yes frontline. A truly great game, I do believe it always seems to get lost in the fray. Guess its because not very many folks have the controls for it.

I do ;D At first I hesitated taking up space on my cp for a control that is only came on three games but I had to have it just for Frontline alone. I play Frontline quite often so for me it was worth it. Pain in the --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules-- to mount in a wood cp though. I picked up a second one for the cab I'm building now and I'm building a metal cp for this cab since most of the oddball controls were mostly made to fit on a metal cp.

What is that, a spinner?

In any event, since it's a vertical game, it wouldn't be going on this cabinet.

I was at my mom's today...should have taken some pictures of the cabinet in it's current state.  Not much different, just cleaned up with the side art removed.

Just checking out some control panels.  If I want to include Bubble Bobble, I have to put in a second joystick/buttons.  That's going to shink things considerably.
