Can the Vision Pro 19" SVGA Monitor play "everything"???
« on: October 29, 2004, 10:12:30 am »
Can I play games ranging from Street Fighter Alpha 3 to MK2 to Pac-man on the Vision Pro 19" Horizontal Mount SVGA Monitor from Happs (#49-1337-VP2)?  I want to make sure the monitor I ultimately decide to buy will work for the games I want to play.  I am also thinking about the WG d9200 but I'm building a 3-CP cocktail and my living room is small.  I'm leaning towards the 27" (like the Whammocade) but if I can have a nice looking (and playable) monitor at 19" I might just go for it.  Thanks!

Yes it will.  You will either want to use hardware stretching to fill the screen or use a program like advance mame to give you more resolution options that do not require stretching.  My first cocktail, pactacular, used a similar monitor (wg u3100) and the games looked very good.  Won't give you arcade perfect but no one will likely be able to tell the difference.

OK, thanks whammoed!  As much as I want to go with the 27" monitor I'm just not sure that the finished cocktail will fit in the space I want it to go so I might have to get something smaller.  It is good to know that I can get my Capcom fighter fix on the smaller 19" screen and have it look good!

ooohhh... maybe I will compromise slightly and get the 25" DUAL RES. (CGA/EGA) HAPP VISION PRO MONITOR.  It's on sale for $285 right now.  Will this monitor work for what I want it to do?  Thanks!

Hi. Dual Res monitors are really cool, because they can display 99% of arcade games at the correct resolution. Just bear in mind that you will need to use AdvanceMAME to output the EGA modes. Also, since it doesn't do VGA you will need some way to view your computer's "normal" VGA output, or an ArcadeVGA.
