custom lists
« on: October 24, 2004, 06:17:36 pm »
Hi, I'm using v0.97 of Mamewah with Mame v0.82.
I installed v0.82 of the catver file in both folders (Mamewah & Mame).
I select a custom list and press '1' on Generate Custom List using Filters. Unfortunately, the screen remains unchanged.
Can anybody help?
                 thanks

Refresh your main list, then generate a custom list.  the catver.ini file should be in the mame folder and pointed to in your config file.

Hi, I don't understand, how do you point to the catver.ini file? I followed your suggestion - still no change.

In MW v0.97, you can't.  You must place catver.ini in your emulators root folder, and refresh the list.

I have a question regarding custom lists: I have done lists by category using catver.ini filters, but I'm thinking about removing some games from the list (don't play well, boring, ...). The easiest way to do this is to use the built in "remove game from list", but am I right to assume that if I ever upgrade my rom set, I will have to start over? or doess mamewah actually keep a list definition of "this list is card and majong games except for this one, this one, and this one" so that I could re-apply the filter to a new rom set?
It would be a pretty cool feature to have (either have an "update gamelist" option, or simply delete the filter if you want it rebuilt from scratch?) just an idea.

Unfortunately you would have to do it all over again if you ever refresh the main list (unless you don't mind the other lists to be 'out of date').

I'd like to make some system eventually to do exactly as you describe - v2 will have this if all goes well...

...and in the meantime, Dragon King does its filtering this way.

Hi, catver.ini is in the mame folder amongst the folders and executables. I have catver.ini v0.82 for use with mame v0.82. I downloaded the catver file from catlist. I refresh the games list but the screen remains unchanged when I try to generate a custom list.
catver.ini is in my mamewah folder and the mame\cfg folder too.

I deleted the unneeded (?) files. I refreshed the main list and tried to generate a custom list again (without success).

did you put catver.ini in the MAME (not MAMEWAH) root folder? (just in case you didn't get MinWah's previous posts).
