Search ROMS?
« on: October 21, 2004, 11:57:29 pm »
There must be a tool out there that allows us to search our ROM's and sort/filter them base on controls used.  Like 4-way joy or 8-way joy...number of buttons.

Can someone tell me what software will do that?
I tried ClrMamePro but not quite what I wanted.

Use a FE and use custom filtered lists to do this...

Note MW cannot filter on no. buttons, I suspect DK and some others can.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot.

Let me tell you guys what I'll trying to do, maybe there is another solution to my problem.

I'm building a cocktail cab for old games like Ms Pacman and such.  I need to know what games uses 4 way, and of those, what is the max buttons I'll need.  2, 3, or 4?

I'm setting up the cab with modular CP.
4-way, 8-way figher style, trackball/spinner.

I would like to group/filter the games so that only
the games that are meant to be played on a particular CP will show up.

You could try SortInfo, it's what I used to make the vertical/horizontal sorting BAT's on my site.

But as a lot of people will tell you, SortInfo gets its information from Mame's ListInfo, which is not entirely accurate controls-wise. I think it's still a good place to start though.
