the colors go really funky.

#1: Why?
#2: Is there a way around this? I was planning on building a small cabinet for classic games, and putting an $89 21" monitor in it. I was going to place it in the cabinet longways for a more classic look.

#3: Is there a way to fix this? Remember, I am attempting to get over my fears of opening my Monitor to adjust the brightness!!!

The colors go funky because of the earth's magnetic field.  If you degauss it'll be fine afterwards.  That is, if your monitor has a manual degauss.  Otherwise, it'll do it itself eventually, but it'll take a while.  Do a search on degaussing, you'll find other ways to do it.

Oh yeah, WTF is with that graphic  for Bush?  Can you please make it smaller.

if you are leaving your monitor in one orientation then im pretty sure if you leave it off for a while it will be fine again. if its an old monitor it might take hours or even overnight. but newer ones have degaussing coils built in. the one in my cab takes two seconds normally!

you need to degauss the monitor

usually a monitor will have a built in degaussing coil fitted around the back of the tube.

if it has, it should degauss automatically when switched on, or you can trigger degauss manually (use osd control or button switch somewhere)

my hantarex mtc eq/2 automatically degausses on power up and then every hour afterwards (not strictly required but nice feature)

if monitor does not have a built in degauss coil, you can use an external handheld degauss coil to do it yourself.

every time you move the monitors orientation  you should expect to have to degauss it.
