im have the most recent version of mamewah installed, but the setup tool still insists that i do not and asks me to go to the mamewah site to get a version that clearly does not exist..

Seriously, MAMEWAH 1.51 is by far the easiest version of MAMEWAH to set up. If the reason you're going to an old version of MAMEWAH is because you're scared of the setup involved, just give it a shot first.  You'll save yourself the aggravation of converting later!

Not to mention making it easier for Minwah to help you when you have a problem.

Very true, which is basically why I no longer offer it as a download.

I appreciate there are a few reasons why you may want to run v0.97 tho, which is why I will mail it out if anyone really wants it...

OK...

If you get stuck setting up emulators, check out JCrouse's assortment of ini files: http://home.comcast.net/~cpviewer/downloads.htm

I'll second the "don't get used to an older version of things" theory.

I started setting up mamewah about 2 weeks before the new version came out, the newer one is much easier. It DOES still have a learning curve, but you just have to accept that fact that you WILL need to read the .docs :)

If you ever get everything setup in .97 then decide you want to upgrade remember that you'll have to re-do your custom lists over again. Something you won't have to do anymore with the new versions

Is there a way to import your 0.9x configuration and list files into the newer 1.51 or do I have to start over?
(I just downloaded 1.51 and haven't installed it yet)

Edit: what about layouts? I have 5 emulators with custom layouts, can those be imported or must they be re-done?

Can the two version co-exist while I bring 1.51 up?

You have to configure from scratch :(

They can still be used, but you'll need to rename everything from emux*.* to emuname*.* (see the new layouts.txt).

Sure, just install to a different directory :)  And you may as well use v1.52 now ;)
