mamewah: no game list
« on: October 20, 2004, 06:47:19 am »
Hello, I installed Mamewah v0.97 on my C:Drive.
 I'm using the www.screenshotarchive.com tutorial.
No games are found when I press '1' on 'Refresh Game List'.
I checked the paths on the 'emu1.cfg' file - they seem to be correct.
Can anybody help?
             thanks

You haven't given much info so I am guessing but...

Assuming you are using a recent MAME build, you need to make a DAT file in order to generate the games list.  See the FAQ: http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=740&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1&new=

Or you could just use the latest version of MW ;)

Thanks,  I am having some browser problems, I couldn't reach the FAQ. Could you post another link (one which puts me on the page, rather than a pop-up window)?

When I try to install Mamewahv151 the 'illegal operation' message appears.
 ???

Not sure how to...just copy & paste the link into your browser.  Or, goto www.mameworld.net, clock on the ArcadeOS forum link, then click on the stickied 'MAMEWAH v0.97 FAQ (Newbs Please Read)'.

Hmm, at which point do you get this message?

Several seconds after clicking on the icon.
I have access to two pc's; I tried installing v151 on the other - it installed fine.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to reach the mamewah screen. After clicking on the mamewah icon this message appeared: 'MSCOMM32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered:a file is missing or invalid'.

I noticed some ini files on this site: www.home.comcast.net/~cpviewer/downloads.htm

Can these help?

                           thanks

Did you install the system files from my downloads page?

The JCrouse's ini files won't help, they are for setting up emulators within MW.

No I didn't, I will do so.
I had some success today. The error was in the paths; the case was incorrect in some letters. I now have mame, zsnes, zinc, project 64 in my emulators list; all have gamelists.
Mame runs games, I have screenshots, but I have the rom names in the list not the full game name:
eg. 'sf2ce' not 'Street Fighter 2' Champion Edition'
How can I change this?
Zsnes runs but I don't have screenshots. I'm unsure on why.
Zinc won't run.
Nintendo 64 runs, but the game appears in a window onscreen. Can this window be avoided? No screenshots.
                 thanks

How can I change this?

Use the default list_generation_method: rom_folder_vs_listxml

Have you got any?  More info...

Zinc won't run.

You'll need to use a dat file (& dat file list_generation_method) to get the correct names displayed, but the correct romnames launched.

No idea, you didn't even say what emulator you are using...but play around with the renderer settings.

Hi, I had the List Generation Method at '0'; I changed it to that which you suggested.
Now 'run-time error 13....type mismatch' appears when I click on the Mamewah icon.
I solved the snes screenshot problem. I moved the snap folder to another directory, changed the path...success

'Illegal Operation' appears when I try to run a game in Zinc. This also happens outside of Mamewah. I have romnames in my list.
I'm using Project64 v1.5. I found a solution; press escape to reach fullscreen.
                             thanks

I thought you got v1.51 to work?  MAMEWAH v0.97 doesn't have a List Generation Method capable of working with new versions of MAME - you need to use a DAT file as I said is in the FAQ.

If it does it outside of MW then you are doing something wrong...not sure what.

As I said, see if there are any renderer options to make it fullscreen...I don't use it myself so sorry I can't really help.
