smoothmame or equivilent
« on: October 16, 2004, 11:45:47 am »
I want to be able to play some of the newer games on a second emulator in Mamewah, but I can't find Smoothmame anywhere..I only have smoothmame32, which doesnt help me when I'm using Mamewah

Is this project dead?

Also are there any other Mame ports that will accomplish the same thing?

When I was using Smoothmame32, I could play the Cruisin's, prop cycle and so on..

thanks

SmoothMAME is apparently still in development but only updated to version 78. As long as that isn't an issue you can find it here: http://www.zophar.net/mame.html

Hope that helps...

Thanks for the update!!

Unfortunately, the command line of SmoothMame doesn't work nearly as well as the mame32 version I have ???

Which sux because I am using Mamewah and HATE using Mame32 in my cab!!

In normal mame, use triplebuffer and you get the smoothness without the speed change.

It really does work well without it.

If your system can't handle triple buffer, thats where smoothmame really helped.  It changes the speed of the game to your monitors refresh... but on many games that changes the speed by 5-10%  (56.333fps -> 60fps makes the game run a bit faster.  And 52fps is a HUGE difference).
