Beautiful work!!!  Thanks for the construction pics; I always appreciate those.

Did you just poly it or was there stain involved, too?

thanks for all the compliments...

yes she like the Woody  ;)

i used minwax "Ipswitch Pine" stain and Minwax Semi-Gloss poly for the finish (3 sprayed coats for the cabinet and 5 for the cpanel).

it is all made out of oak and oak plywood (except the very bottom of the cabinet which is regular ply)...

What kind of sprayer did you use for this?  HVLP?  Also, what did you use to thin out the poly to help it go through?

Did you spray the stain as well, or brush/rag it on?  I've thought about spraying the stain to get more even coverage and leaving it on a bit longer.

DrewKaree

I use a HVLP sprayer, i use this one from harbor freight..

for the poly i usually don't thin it with the hvlp sprayer.. i use many thin coats and sand with 220 sandpaper or 0000 steelwool between coats...

for the stain i usually brush on then wipe off in 30min or use rag if brush won't work.. i usually get pretty even coverage with brushing or rags.. i do make sure that before i stain i wet down the wood and sand with 220 after it drys, that way the stain soaks up evenly...

Hey, thanks for the link!  They've got a store less than 5 miles from my house...guess I'll be making a trip tomorrow!

I've got a few Abralon (izzat spelled right?) pads I use for getting a nice finish.  I heard from some old woodworkers that with the water-based finishes that are so popular today, using steel wool may possibly screw your finish up later on down the road if you get any fibers from the steel pads in your work, they'll rust, giving you small orange stains here and there.....I started using 3M pads, until I found the Abralon ones.

Thanks again for your tips

i don't have plans for that, i just took 32 dvd's measured them together then added 1/4" extra on the sides then 1/2" extra on the top then just started to build.. usually when i need to build something i just start building and before you know it, it is finished...

 thanks again everyone....
