Inexpensive 27" TV for MAME Cab
« on: October 07, 2004, 03:54:39 pm »
Thought I would pass along a great, inexpensive TV for MAME cab.
Circuit City sells the ESA 27" TV (ET427E), with s-video input and speakers on the bottom.  Right now they are selling for $179 with $10 rebate.  I just got one and love it - the TV remains on s-video input and power on when unplugged.  It also is relatively lightweight and compact for a 27" tv & it fits nicely in my UAII cabinet.

Hi, Thanks for the info. ;D  I was going to ask but you just answered it.  So here's an extended question.  I want to get the UAII and i want a TV that will fit in it.  Preferably 27" but i can't seem to find any that fit.  They are all either too big or too small.  The ESA seems just right but i'm not sure about it.  My main question is this :   What TV works better, a flat screen 27" or a regular curved screen 27" , for use with the ACT LABS USB TV LIGHT GUN? And can you recommend a couple models that work with it?  So far my only choice seems to be the ESA which seems nice and all but i just thought Flat Screen would be the way to go.  Tell me which is better and i need some models to choose from.  Thanks.

I just tried my Act Labs TV Light gun on the Esa TV with Area 51 and it worked like a charm.  I don't know if other models and/or a flat screen would work better but this one seems fine.  Just my opinion, but I think a flat screen TV takes away from the arcade look of the cabinet.

Sears has a Memorex 27" on Sale ($179.99).  If you are a premier card holder, you can get another 10% off.

Every so often Fry's has 25" Sharp TV's on sale for $99.  Great buy for an arcade cab.

What video card are you using?
