How do you setup other emulators with MAMEwah?
« on: October 06, 2004, 09:14:58 pm »
In previous versions of MAMEwah, everything was done with the menu system.  Now, a console .ini file(s) are needed for each emulator.  How do I get these .ini files for each emulator??  Does MAMEwah create them somehow?  It was easy before in that you just had to give the path to the emulator and set features through the menus--how do you setup and add additional emulators now??
Thanks.

You have to write the .ini yourself AFAIK.  Look at the ini.txt file in the docs folder.  I'm trying to get one for NES roms but need to find a decent emulator.  smynes doesn't seem to agree with MAMEWAH (or commands from the run prompt for that matter).

Which emulator are you trying to get to work?

I started by copy-pasting the mame.ini and reworking it.

There's help available for setting this ini files up.  The options in the files are identical to the old menu system.  You might want to try the setup program.  It guide you through the process w/ a graphical interface.

For NES emus, use either virtuanes or ultrafce.  Both can be found at the screenshot archive:

Either copy an existing ini file and adjust it, or place a blank suitably named text file (eg gens.ini) in the ini folder and run MAMEWAH - it will generate the file with default settings automatically similarly to 'mame -cc'.

Read 'readme1st.txt' - it explains it in there.
