arcades in new york city

anyone live in NYC and know of any good arcades? Im gonna be up there for a day trip in early november and id like to check out any cool arcades they have around times square/broadway area. any suggestions?

There is an arcade at 42nd and 8th.  It's across from AMC theaters and next to Chevy's.  I've dropped some $$ there on occassion.  They seemed to have a good mix.  I could be biased b/c that's were I first met Start Wars Arcade Trilogy - great game.

sweet, so if i just tell a taxi driver 8 mott street arcade, he should know what im talking about?  ive only been in a cab like 2 times and i was very young heh

Take either R,Q,M and get off at Canal street and a cab from there(shouldnt take more then 5 min from the trainstation).If you are not taking the train then print out a map or something.The driver should know.

I'm sad to say Broadway Arcade closed about 2 months ago. There was a stabbing there. They were sued by the parents and as far as I understand were pushed into Bankruptcy.

It's really too bad...it was a cool place.

I don't know about arcades but we have a lot of cool things to visit that aren't arcade related...    


...well okay there's a really cool import video game store on Houston (HOUSE-TON not HUES-TON) Street called Multimedia 1.0.  Last time I checked they had some cool titles.  Don't have the exact address right now, sorry.

Then there are Jillian's locations in Westbury and somewhere else.  Consult their website for exact location, but it's an easy ride on the LIRR from the city to Long Island.  However, they are not REAL arcades in the sense of strictly games but still nice.  The Nathan's in Westbury (Old Country Road) has a really good arcade, though some of the classics have gone to hell since I checked.

sweet thanks for the info!  btw if my girlfriend finds out you guys gave me this info shes gonna be mad at you =p  im gonna be draggin her to these places. although the reason im going there is for her really so she can deal with a few arcades/geek stores. I didnt tell her why were going, i just said make sure you have off work. were going to see Dracula on broadway, cause shes into that kind of stuff and i figured i would do something nice... so why not let me have fun too
