ArcadeVGA uninstallable
« on: October 01, 2004, 10:40:55 pm »
despite the fact that my arcadevga is in place and working.
evertime i restart, windows xp home discovers the display adapter as new hardware and goes thru the intall new hardware process, whihc i promtly cancel..
going to system>hardware shows the display adapter as a yellow exclamation mark, indicating it is not properly installed.
if i right click on my desktop and go to video properties it shoes the that monitor is running on an arcadeVGA.
what gives? and how can i install this thing so windows recognizes it?

yeah its not a problem ,but as you said it is damn annoying and it makes my startup much longer than necessary with all this detected new hardware, then insatall drivers for this device, then cancelling, then dealing with the hardware may not function properly popup.. its a real pain.. and it makes a nice smooth startup impossible..
is this a problem with the drivers that everyone with and arcade vga gets?

Just select the option to not notify you again.  I can't remember the exact verbage.  This is available when the found new devices window opens & asks you to search for the correct driver.

I did this and also did it for the option for Windows to select the best resolution for me.

Try the following:

1) Reboot in SAFE MODE

2) Open the system control panel and go to device manager

3) Remove any generic VGA video adapters, and any stock ATI Video adapters (Windows often tries to use the stock ATI drivers instead of the ArcadeVGA drivers)

4) Install the ArcadeVGA drivers

5) Restart
