Setting Rotation of AVGA display is not saved on restart
« on: September 28, 2004, 08:58:05 pm »
help!

i have a pretty serious issue regarding use of
ArcadeVGA in my new cocktail cab.

Due to installation of a coin door i have had to
install the monitor "upside down". This i thought
would not be a problem due to ability to set display
rotation in the ATI control panel.

I set rotation to 180deg and everything was
fine...except when i reboot the rotation setting
is reset to 0deg resulting in an upsidedown windows
desktop. I cant get the rotation setting to stay on
windows reboot/restart.

unfortunatley it is not feasible for me to install the
monitor in the correct orientation. therefore it is
pretty important that i can set 180deg rotation and
get the setting to stick.

any ideas on how to resolve this?

BTW i am running Windows XP Professional with SP1
installed. ArcadeVGA is Radeon 7000 series type.

cheers

If you can't get the flip to work on the software do a "yoke flip" on the monitor.  It is easy and reliable:

thanks for the yoke flip suggestion i will consider that as last resort. (i'm not that convident about messing around with monitors electronics/wiring)

would like to resolve the ArcadeVGA driver issue if possible

i will take a look at the registry - figure that the default rotation setting must be stored in there somewhere.

another option might be to go for Pivot Pro utility (will test the demo version). but hardware solution would be better that software if possible.
