bittorrent client has been sitting in the "connecting to peers" state for a while now but has not downloaded a byte yet

And yes, I've used bittorrent before so it shouldn't be a setup/router/firewall issue on my side.

great! after sitting for 1/2h in that state it finally started downloading.

About 17 hours to go.

I'll leave bittorrent up until Sunday night when I have a competitive match of Unreal Tournament 2004 that requires full access to my bandwidth..

There were a few guys at the 3D Arcade forum making the videos, not sure if they're still doing it. But I think they did outline their method of creating new movies.

Things picked up speed and the download finished earlier than I thought!
My bittorrent client is still up and still pumping data out at full speed.

I started my client up last night, and I will leave it up until early tomorrow morning.

Currently their are four peer downloading from me.

I have downloaded a few different screen capture programs, so I can try and create some more videos.

Yes is there a howto or guidelines on how to make then somewhere?

I have fraps, so capturing videos is a snap, but what format/resolution/.... should I make them into? Maybe this is netter asked in the 3D arcade forum.

Ooops, I forgot that I had bittorrent throttled to 250kbps so upload is slowerthan advertized.
I served 1.5G overnight thoguh, so it's working.

hopefully I got it. I will keep it up for a while so if you need to take a few days off.... we can keep a seed up. (love bit torrent)

trouble is... I only have 40mbps upload (and usually throddle it down... so I can webserf)

Ok - I have the full set and have opened up BT for seeding. Don't have a great connection but should help get the last bits of the puzzle. Will leave it up as long as I can, but may need to come down for short periods.

edit - just checked my client and I have actually only d/l 99.9% of it (95% completed aafbb.avi, 90% completed 88games.avi, 0% completed thumbs.db - all the rest are done) so I won't be able to provide all the pieces yet.

I've "served" over 1G today alone so something must not work properly on your side, someone *is* getting data from me. Which client do you use? Does it tell you how many seeds and distributed copies you're seeing?

I'm trying my best but I'm only getting upload speeds of 3kB/s but I do have a share ratio now of 626.625

But it looks like I'm the only seed on at the moment. Hopefully the person that's currently at 94% keeps the client running after finishing.

I guess you have a good upload speed papa - my upload is 64k which is only slightly better than dialup (56k). I'm going to have to stop mine for a while.

upload speed on dial pup is nto 56K, it's worse (only down speed gets to 56K)
I'll restart it but it will have to come down over the weekend.

Did you ever use bittorrent before? did you open/forward ports in your firewall/router?
with several seeds yuo should be getting much better speeds.

One small note, since I haven't seen anything on how to actually set these videos up. To put them as a screensaver, go into the mamewah config file and change saver_type from slideshow to movie.

Ok, I have put this into my torrent client, hopefully uploading/downlaoding will start soon. Howevert, I have noticed that my torrent says "mame videos shrunk" is this the correct one? Aslo, what is the difference between these and the 4 gig advance menu movie files? thanks for any help you can give me.

The advance mame videos are 4 gigs and only advance menu supports them and it's likely that advancemenu will be the only fe to ever support them.
