The mame attract videos hosted on my website http://darrensweb.org have been updated. There were around 112 new videos this time around. Big thanks to all that have worked to create this collection

Update 10/2004 - It is suggested that you do not use the official bittorrent client but rather something like bittornado as it lets you limit the upload speed as not to choke your cable/dsl line (ALSO NOTE that your download speed is proportional to your upload speed so don't limit too much or you hurt everyone, including yourself)

The videos are used for 3d Arcade and the newest Mamewah (If there are any others let me know)
Additions: Dragon King, Kymaera and ultrastyle also supports Videos.

The videos are of the games in attract mode which is the view that you would see if you where walking by in the arcade. They have the insert coin messages, high scores, sounds to grab your attention and etc.

I am developing a tracking system that can be used to report problems, submit new, add notes, request videos (as well as anything else that can be suggested.

Dark Blue = People currently downloading
Light Blue = Completed downloads
Green = Current number of seeders

okay i looked around for some explanation for the videos and such, but your FAQ was blank, so im just gonna ask.  what are the videos for???  are they screensavers?  are they intro movies when you start up your cab?  what are they for??

I'm pretty sure this is accurate:

They are videos from the games captured in attract mode.

attract mode is the game play / credit / high score scenes you see when a game is idle and not being played.

Some front ends support them in skins.

I'm trying to get these, and the available users sharing this at present are pretty rare... Could a few of you fire up your BitTorrent clients for a little while longer?

I'll leave mine up for a week to share the wealth. I've uploaded about 400MB of it to others in the time it's taken me to download 800MB of it. I'm running a fast cable line, so it shouldn't take me long to get it complete once some clients get online.

There a large number of seeders as well as downloads so you should be getting some very good download speeds.

Cool. That seemed to have fixed it. Should have known better than to rely on the default settings! Once I set-up proper port-forwarding settings, my download speed really took off.

Azureus.  It allows you to set global upload and download bandwidth limitations.  It's not percentages, but rather bytes per second.

strange, I've popped off and on 3 times, it has never shown any action but I have some of the vids. I'm confused as ever.  Still shows a red dot.  Files downloaded so far won't open with media player or quicktime.  Any ideas?

Well, I seem to have them all (windows explorer).  I'm not sure exactly how since BitTornado still doesn't show I downloaded anything...  I think I found a bug  .

The files are probably not complete yet.

Click on the word "Detail" on the mani BitTornado window to see which files are actually complete.

When you start a torrent, all the files you are downloading are placed in your download directory as a sort of placeholder.  The second you click that .torrent file, all of the files will seem like they are there.  They aren't of course... they won't run at all b/c they aren't really downloaded yet.

I wish I had seen this thread earlier today.  I went home this weekend and could have let it run on my desktop at school all weekend.  I'll throw it up Sunday night, I've had the whole set for a while now, might as well help out

Yeah, like the other guy said.  BT downloads in pieces, in no particular order.  So when you start the dl, your client creates all the files at full size, but they're empty.

Then it fills them in piece-by-piece as they're downloaded.

You might have a NAT error and need to setup port forwarding.  Search for those terms and you'll find numerous sites explaining more.

I can't even get the download to start. I've left it on a few times but it just keeps saying "connecting to peers". The version I'm using is Bit Torrent 3.4.2. Maybe I'm on at the wrong times?

I left my computer on all last night and it crashed during that time. But I got all the files. I just turned it on tonight. Also I had better results using Bit Tornado.

Okay it's uploading now at 25 kb/s.

16 hours later.... I have them all now.  I'll stay up as long as I can as well.

Now all I find myself doing is opening them all up in a play list in Media player and watching them all......

I think the Dragon's Lair ones are great.....
