If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Are you talking about the gray foam stuff that's in a case?  It has little pyramids of foam?

It's just shaped foam rubber.  An upolstry supply may have it.

Any sewing store (JoAnn Fabrics, Minnesota Fabrics, Hancock, etc.) will have foam in various densities and sizes.  Colors are typically just white & green though.

You need the actual gray stuff?  Not sure about that.

If you can't be a good example at least try to be a horrible reminder.

I'm just going out on a limb here, so don't flame me for my suggestion, but if I were you, I'd try a gun shop.   ;)

Seriously, though, give them a try, OOOORRRRR, look in your yellow pages for a fabric store (dunno, but Joanne fabrics is in my area) and see if they have it.

You are referring to the "egg crate" type of foam, yes?  If it's something else altogether, let us know.

Not the eggcrate stuff but rather the stuff that's cut out in the shape of the contents for a PERFECT fit type stuff.  Understand what I'm talking about?

I think there's a joanne nearby, I'll try there.  As for a gunshop, closest one I know about is like 30 miles away, hardly worth the trip if you ask me!

I think I gotcha about that stuff.  All they did was take a knife and cut it out of a solid piece of that stuff.

The only other stuff I can see doing that with is a HARD foam, kinda like they use for flower arrangements (my wife's a florist) where it's hard, like what they use to pack up a tv, but not the "tons of styro balls mashed together" stuff - more like "the insides of a malted milk ball" texture.  THAT stuff is way easy to work with - any power tool will work.

Did that help, or are you talking something STILL completely different?

Here's what I use for my gun cases:
http://www.pelicanpro.com/awwebstore/Store.asp?mode=Category
It's called "pick-and-pluck" foam.

It won't let me access the site.  Says I have to create an account...

Could you post some pics of the stuff and some general pricing on it?

I have looked for this exact stuff before as well.  A lot more difficult to find than I ever thought it would be.  I never actually found what I wanted.  The closest thing I could find was some sort of green foam stuff in a fabrics store.

Ignore the login stuff. Just click on the blue "replacement parts" text.
