high score troubles :-(
« on: September 21, 2004, 09:22:57 pm »
Hi scores just will not stay put for me.  In Tempest they keep reverting back to the original initials, but keep my score!  Weird, in other games they just don't stay there, like in Zaxxon.

Could someone please please enlighten me on the proper way to keep hi scores.  I've tried the unofficial hiscore.dat file, same thing :-(

  I'm running Mame.86 and MameWah 1.51

  thanks all!!!

is this just a silly question that is answered in the FAQ and I missed it?  or does no-one keep hi-scores in their cabs?

I'll be able to search more tonight for an answer, but if anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be awesome :-)

Are  you using cheat.dat? I know you can't save scores if you are using it, at least that's what I remember reading.  That's the only thing I can think of.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

I don't think I ever put cheat.dat on my cab, but I'll double check in the morning.

I did notice tonight that my Tempest scores were there, but my Zaxxon scores were not :-(

I'll play with it more tomorrow and see what happens.

  thanks! ;-)

Some hi scores save; some don't.  Look in the hiscore.dat file to see what games rely on this file to save their scores.

Some games use the nvram files to save scores as well.

And some just haven't been figured out yet.

Hey!
A trouble is trouble. All the replies are saying right.you may need to check it again. To save high scores files you must have
1)A folder name "hi" by default.
2)A NVRAM folder.
3)A letest updated hiscore.DAT file.

As you are using a latest MAME try to keep all the DAT files update.
If you are using cheats then highscore will not be saved.

Still not solve your problem just go the another forum and ask there.
