Tiger Woods 2005
« on: September 21, 2004, 05:45:59 pm »
I see 2K5 comes out today for the PC.  I was thinking of getting 2K4 to put on the machine but decided to wait until 2K5 came out.  Anyone planning on getting it?  Tough to tell if the controls are the same by reading the product description (ie can it be played "normally" on a trackball).  GT for PC is fun but I want something with a little more variety (boourns to only 3 courses).

Interested to hear anyones impressions on 2k5 if they pick it up (or 2k4 if you've got it now).

I got it today but I had to go to work so I dont have it installed yet.  I also got 2004 and play the hell out of it. I hope 2005 is better.

You know that there are bonus Courses for GT!  I have 9 courses on my GT game.  It was an expantion pack that was sold seperatly.

I've never been able to find the GT expansion for sale anywhere unfortunately :( (hence the questions about woods 2k5).

Please let us know how you like the new version of Tiger ;)

Yeah, I 've got the bonus courses for GT as well... Hey on a side note has anyone had problems with GT and mamewah?  It seems to experience an error at about the 12th or 13th hole everytime I play it.  Sorry, I don't mean to hijack the topic but I figured while we were on the subject I'd ask. :)

Well I just finished with 2 hours of playing!  It works great with my Happ 3" Trackball.  I never played 2k4 on the PC, but I can say that this one is great with a dedicated cabinet.  I only needed my mouse, and mouse buttons to play.  You need the ALT key to open the menu in game play, but you should have it as button 2 on your cab anyway.  You will need a keyboard to type your name in when creating your profile, but that is about it.  Great game, and great addition to my cab!

Sweet, thanks for the update.  I'm pretty well sold :)  I just wanted to make sure it played decently in a cab and it sounds like it does.

Thanks!

As to the GT issue.  I run into problems with it randomly crashing about 25% of the games I play.  Not related to Mamewah though because I run it outside of it.

OK cool, at least I know others have had problems with it as well and it's not just me.  Anyway, I'll have to check out TW 2005 also. :D

this is something i am wondering about (cause i dont want to use a keyboard with my cocktail cab!)....

would be possible to setup a hotkey combo for the ipac that when pressed will popup the WinXP's onscreen keyboard? would it then be possible to enter any text using the trackball?

Since you guys stated problems with Golden Tee, when I am trying to run Golden Tee in Xp pro, after it is installed and i click on the icon (the cd rom is in) the screen goes black like the game is going to start then nothing happens, then i click control alt delete and it says Golden Tee is not responding, sorry to get off subject, but does anyone know how to fix this?

I use a program called Macro Express to do things like this.  I map one key to a combo and then voila, it is good to go.  I have the SHIFT - > Player 1 BTN 6 key mapped to the onscreen keyboard.  It works great.

How much better is TW2005 over TW2004?

i mean you can buy TW2004 from play.com for just 9 quid now.

maybe i should just go for TW2004 instead

Sure you could do that, and if you never played TW2005 you would never know the difference.  I for one am the type that upgrades each time a new Madden/Tiger series comes out just for the suddle differences.  Its not a totally different game, so if new courses, players, options, etc. don't interest you then I say go with 2k4.

Can the console versions play mroe than one on one with online play.  That's what I didn't like about the PS2 version of 2004.

3eyedblindman,

I had a similiar problem in Golden Tee where I could see the intro screens, select my course, etc.. but when the game actually started it started up in a different resolution.  I got around this by pressing Alt-F4 which cycles the golden tee games display resolutions.  I believe I have to press Alt-F4 twice to get it to display.  Let me know if that works.

After I put the cd in it auto runs to the window that says play watch videos uninstall ect. When I click on play, the screen turns black like the game is starting, but it just stays like that. I pressed Alt F4 like you said and nuthing happens, then I press CTRL ALT DLT and it tells me GTG is not responding. Its like once its about to play it freezes. I have an older computer and it runs fine on there, so i dont know what the problem is.

Is this PGA Tour 2005 pretty accurate to the arcade version of PGA Tour Championship?

Anyone had luck playing this at 680x480 on a TV?  Can the resolution be set that low, and does it looks any good?

how does it run/look with an ArcadeVGA card and a Scart TV/Arcade Monitor?

Worth putting in my cab?

I am using a TV with S-Video out, and the game's lowest res is 800x600. Any way that the game could be forced to run at 640x480? The game displays beautifully on the TV, but the menus and such are too minute to be able to read easily on the TV, which is the only problem so far. This is only the menus when you are actually playing, everything else like the main menu works fine. Other than that, the game plays great!
