my cp art so far- comments welcome
« on: September 20, 2004, 04:44:40 pm »
Hey guys

Here's my CP art so far. I'm going to populate the maze with dots and ghosts again. My wife and I battle over top Pacman and Ms Pacman scores (I have Pacman, she still has Ms Pacman) so I guess this is as "romantic" as a custom cab can get. I think she'll like it. What do you guys think? I have a few directions I can take this now, and I'm wondering if anyone else has some fresh ideas.

Thanks
Keith

I'll email you a full size Jpeg of it (200 dpi) tomorrow. Thanks. The blue of the pacman maze comes across darker than it really is in the image I posted.

I noticed a couple things: First, the Mr. and Ms. Pacmen aren't lined up vertically, and it doesn't look quite right. I would make them even.

Second, and this might not be practical, but is it possible to have each Pacperson lined up with the wrap-around side maze exits?

one question... are you not going to put a trackball on your CP? you may want to consider placing the pacmen lower in case you decide to add a trackball later.

but it does look good....nice work

I guess I havea few things to address:  ;D

They are not lined up perfectly because that's actually how it looks in Ms Pacman. I was surprised by this as well. Between what I was thinking and your comment, I aligned them.

As for the trackball.... I've decided to leave it off this particular CP. For it to be on there AND comfortable, it'd have to be huge. My new pace I'm moving to has some space limitations, and this is best for now. I'm also trying to keep costs down for start, and $30 for the trackball + another $40 for the optipac is just too lucrative at the moment.

I think I'll make my CP modular with big bolts sticking up and wingnuts so I can switch it out later on. Or, I've been considering making a 2nd dediacted cab. In the future I would also like to have a 4-player setup (and make it Smash TV compatable)

My wife is going to kill me.  :-\

Very cool art man, I think my only concern would be the color of your cab to match this thing.  What would look really slick is if you could pull off a gradient scheme on the cab, although that'd be way beyond my painting skills.  And the decision on what type of t-modling and button colors is the next big step for this thing.

I really like it and would love to have the version w/o the cutouts if possible.

I'm glad other people are liking my efforts  :)

I'll be happy to forward the email with the image attachment if anyone else wants it.

My gears have been turning on the sideart and marquee. I posted my original marquee and sideart, but I think i'm going to ride this Pacman theme further than just the CP now. i think this will look quite awesome when it comes together.

Do Pacmen have asses? I guess they would have to, with all the eating they do...

That looks great!  I would go with that and print it?

I don't know if you would be interested or not, but I have done the side art for a Konami cabinet in this style. It might save you a bit of time. Let me know if you are interested.

I'd like to see it, but I'm probably going to paint it by hand over the entire surface. I'm too cheap to dole out lots of $ for vinyl sideart that only covers like 20% of the surface. I'm going to do a "Pac-mural" on each side  ;D

Here is a slightly older version. The current one has all of the fruit at the bottom. I am in the middle of reinstalling Photoshop/Illustrator at the moment and I don't have a small version of the current one.

I found a good local source for artwork.  I don't think they are national though :(

Cooper's Printing is doing my sidearts and marquee on peel and stick vinyl for $40!  That was much better than Kinko's charging $80 for regular stock paper.

$40 for two sideart pieces and a marquee?  That's a steal!  They might get a ton of business if they're willing to ship...

My Pac Maze artwork, marquee and sideart, are posted on the Artwork Library.

Special thanks to Nannuu for the inspiration and Mahuti helping with the uploading!

Enjoy.

if there was one of these that fit a standard pac panel Id be willing to pay
