slikstik cab finished
« on: September 19, 2004, 11:18:36 pm »
i know its pretty lame to most of you guys, but my brother and i put together a slikstik cab for the living room.  assembly took around 4 hours.  what impressed me the most was the size of the quad controller, it is huge.  you don't notice how big it is when you see a pic of it on a cab, but when i had it unattached it was pretty amazing.  especially compared to my 2 player hotrod controller.

this cab is for my brothers place, so I think i may still build my own one day.

Ok, aside from griping that the picture is wayyyyy too big dude, where did you guys get that coin door with the different colored coin slots?

Is that something that comes with the kit or did you order that elsewhere?

The controller looks like an elephant on a pea. I think a two player CP would suit that cab better.
I love the life I lead. I wish I could afford it.

for the coin door i ordered the different colored reject buttons, the coin door came with 4 yellow ones.  i also got joel (www.joelsgadgets.com) to wire some leds for it.  It is a big panel, but is very comfortable to use.  They have a "33 cabinet now, so the quad would probably look more at home on that one.  I would have gone with the 2 player panel, but my brother wanted the 4 player.  I would have resized the pic but don't have photoshop installed yet (did a win2k reinstall recently)  For anyone interested the 1st and 2nd players have the perfect 360s and 3rd and 4th player have the rotary (haven't played any time soldiers or ikari warriors on them yet though)  the 360s are awesome, especially for mortal kombat, moves are cake compared to using the hotrod (which uses standard 8 way)

Hey man, thanks for posting.  That is almost the exact same setup I was going for, but I was going for 8 ways all around b/c the other j/s don't have colored tops and I was trying to match them up with the colors.  Also, now I may go with the 33", if someone can post a freakin' picture of it.  I also like the speakers you used, I have the same setup with my computer, that's the logitech set isn't it?  Where did you put the actual speakers?  Looks great man!

You can always open the picture in paint and click on IMAGE ---> Stretch/Skew and resize the pic by percentages. Hate for ya to get dinged on two things... image size and posting in the wrong forum.

you can find a picture of the 33" one on the slikstik forum somewhere.  it looks just like the "27, just bigger, the style is exactly the same.  the speakers are the logitech z2200 and sound really nice.  I've got the satellites up where they should be behind the marquee, right now just taped into place.  I have the sub outside the cab, but i may put it in it, dunno how that would affect the sound.  you should really consider the 360 upgrade, they are much better than standard ones and I would bet you could swap in different colored sticks if you really want the colors.  i wasen't sure if this should go in project announcements because it isn't much of a "project"

I kept the image the same, but made the dimensions smaller.  Should keep the browser okay, but it'll still be not-so-nice on dial up.

pixelhugger must have designed the marquee for slikstik as well, looks like Junes Jukebox.

Yep, that's a pixelhugger design. He whipped my arse in the competition they held for the marquee, using his "10,000 fist vector fighting style" ;)

Hello Evil. It was a pleasure doing battle with you.  ;)

I am shocked my fighting style has been recognized. I must now retreat into the darkness to reinvent my skills and add at least 5,000 fists or face imminent defeat in the next round.

Nivo.... you're right, it is no coincidence that it resembles June's marquee. :) She and her husband pointed to one of the unproduced SlikStik versions as a reference for the look they wanted.

It's great to see this in use! Didn't expect a pic to surface here.

Are you still happy with the 4 player CP on that cabinet?  I was thinking about doing the same thing, but I'm not sure if that cabinet is big enough to handle that large of a CP.  I think it looks ok from the pic but I'd like to get your opinion on it now that you've had it a while.

I think it's a pretty nice looking cab.

The CP looks a bit wide, but I've seen worse...

...and it looks really good with the chairs!

Reminds me of a blackjack table at a casino!

Very cool though, must take up a large amount of space.
