First, I think this is a great FE. I offer my comments below to help you in your bug fixing (if you are interested)

When I select "add list" the app exits. Still.

The scrolling is a bit better.

The xml list generator now hangs on startup... but I'm not certain that it is the fault of your list builder.

There are still problems with rendering some of the text boxes (I can get you a picture later)

I haven't extensively tested it yet.... so perhaps when I play with it  a bit longer, I'll see different results.

Will look into these two bugs (rendering boxes & the list thing) as a matter of priority.

I just can't duplicate the "Add List" error that Mahuti is getting. Can anybody else who has my software installed try pulling up the menu. Going to Custom Lists. Select Add List. Type in a list name. This will create a new list.

Use the menu to move a ROM to the custom list.

If this fails, can you let me know.

I usually just chalk everything up to windows 98se. Windows is such a crap system.... I can't believe they got to be as big as they have. I guess it's the cheapness syndrome... like McDonalds. Not great, but you know what you are going to get, and it's completely ubiquitous.

Someday maybe I'll replace the 500 mhz clunker that I have in there, but I have to buy some real systems for my business first.

Very very nice. A lot smoother and more seamless.

I noticed two things.

Only half of the name of the last game in the list appears. The bottom half is chopped off. This is only a problem at the very end of the list, since you can scroll down one game except at the very end or if you have wraparound turned on. For aesthetics, though, half of one game shouldn't be chopped off. This happened on two different resolutions I tried.

The second thing is that the FE crashed to desktop when I switched emulators to Daphne for the first time. It gave me "Oh dear... Probably a directx thing" exception. Once I restarted the FE, a Daphne menu appeared, except there were many blank menu entries before Astron Belt, which should have been the first menu entry. Astron Belt is actually menu item "59 of 80". There are even snapshots on some of the blank menu entries.

Now, I installed the new version directly over the old version, which maybe I shouldn't have done.

This was all on my PC. I'll put it on my cab and I'll see if I notice anything there.

This is probably my next intended major enhancement. I'm still trying to puzzle out how I'm going to handle it in the most user friendly (..newb friendly..) fashion.

Watch this space....

Hey, if you need me to "beta test" the non-xml supported version I'd be happy to put it on my win98 cab and play with it.

Any reason as to why the FE screen saver is running when you exit a game?  I like the idea of using the snapshots as a screen saver when the machine is idle but it's a bit annoying having to "wake up" the FE after exiting a game.

  ;D

It'll be ready really soon. I just don't want to bang a version out that has OBVIOUS mistakes in it.

Keep your eyes on this board for a new version announcement (probably this week).

LOL! Now this is the reason that you NEVER test your OWN CODE!

The reason for this would be, that I only ever launch the game for a few seconds, just to make sure its working. Therefore, I would never have noticed that if you played the game for long enough, the screensaver would start up.

Anyhoo, 2 lines of code later. Its fixed and will be in the next version.

Thanks very much.
