Stacking monitors?
« on: September 13, 2004, 10:08:21 pm »
Well this is a little arcade-unrelated, but is it safe to stack one monitor on top of another? I have a 15" CRT and I want to put a 13" CRT on top (due to horizonal space constraints). Is this safe? Will it hurt my precious 15" CRT  :P ?

Thanks

It should be no problem.

If either have speakers inside they may be sheilded on one side only and might cause interference with the other (in which case remove the speakers).

The only other thing is that when first turned on the degaussing coil of one may affect the other, but you shouldn't even see this since they're both still turning on.

If you notice any discoloration or geometic problems after placing them together, simply degauss each of them a couple times and see if that helps. If not, then something else may be magnetized (highly unlikely) and needing attention.

Coolness...now I can actually make use of the dual-monitor feature of my ATI card  ;D

i think thir could be some issues with RF and magnetic interference.
PC monitors have their noise filter and tranformers built into the unit chassis, shielded from the monitor its working with, but perhaps not to one thats directly above or below it. think you might get some strange ghosting or other undesireable effects.
but who know might work great!
