chd placement for beatmanias
« on: September 13, 2004, 12:26:20 pm »
I have been looking all morning for this information and just can't find anythig that points me in the right direction.  I downloaded the rom set and the chd file for beatmania.  I put the chd in its own directory name the same as the rom (bm1stmix).  When I try to play it says that it can't find the chd file.  I read that the beatmania series was a little different than other chds and may have to be placed in a different directory.  Does anyone have some more information on this?

from what I saw the beatmania roms want the CHDs to be named differently, pay attention to what the file name its looking for is.

Right, for example the original beatmania chd file is named 753jaa11.chd.  I have tried changing the name of the directory to match the file name as well but still saying file not found when it tries to load.

Here are the names for the folders and chd files that you need to use.  For example  beatmania 1st mix would be \mame\roms\bm1stmix\753jaa11.chd

bm1stmix - 753jaa11.chd
bm2ndmix -  853jaa11.chd
bm4thmix - 847jaa11.chd
bm5thmix - 981jaa11.chd
bm6thmix - a21jaa11.chd
bmcompmx - 858jaa11.chd
bmcorerm - a05jaa11.chd

Haven't tried playing them yet, but they should work.  Hope this helps.

If you use clrmamepro it will tell you what the folder should be called as well.

Thank you for pointing that out.  I'll be in the corner smacking myself for forgetting that   :)

I tried that out.  Great program by the way.  It seems that the chds are from a newer version apparently and need to be rolled back.  Being a noob about these things, can someone point me in the right direction as far as a program to do this?

umm.. why don't you just download a newer version of mame?  Call it mamenew.exe or something like that so you don't overwrite the current version you have.  The rom managers can't really fix the chd's as they are images of the hard drive.  Having a newer version probably just means that chd is more accurate.
