Compiling MAME

I'm tryin to compile mame myself but when I do I get an EXE that is 30 some meg...what did I do wrong?

Nothing, that's normal. Download and use this to get it down to a few mb instead of 30.

Uncompressed mame requires less RAM than compressed MAME. When a program is UPXed the entire executable is loaded into memory (where it is compressed).

So unless you are low on disk space (and have plenty of RAM) I would use the uncompressed MAME
