Monitor Woes, Please read, please help
« on: September 10, 2004, 11:21:59 pm »
I posted on here about a week ago, and people said I had my iso transformer hooked up correctly. I had the power going to the monitor actually, but I had it hooked up to the wrong wires...Anyways, I purchased an ArcadeVGA card and a Videoamp from Ultimarc. I plugged the monitor to the vga card, correctly, I plugged in the monitor to outlet..got no picture. I plugged it in again..I smelled somthing..like smoke. I wasnt sure if the smoke smell was coming from the chassis or the transformer, they were fairly close together. Now it wont turn on at all!! I was so upset, then I ended up purchasing a new iso transformer, which I hooked up correctly, even tested power with mulitmeter, even asked the guy who sold it to me, also I looked at all the examples, this was hooked up RIGHT! Then I plug in the iso to the outlet, NO POWER!!! DID I FRY MY MONITOR??? WHAT DO I NEED TO DO????

--Second woe, but not so bad:

I found this other cabinet on the side of the road, guy thought the machine was broken. I got home plugged the machine in. There is a popping noise in the monitors area, what does that mean, when it pops or makes a cracking noise? I also got video to work, I had my ArcadeVGA working with it, YAY! What can I do to fix the popping cracking noise coming from the monitor???

I've had a lot of bad luck this week, much more than just this, lost my license, broke my carkey (old). Fell down a flight of steps!!! Im not doing so hot, so can someone please at least make my week better by helping me with my monitors or pointing me in the right direction.

The monitors are both WG, one is a 7000 series the other I belive a 3000 series.

Thanks!!!

-Ben (Bad luck guy)

Here is some updated information.

The monitor that wont turn on is a 25" inch WG 7000 series.

The other monitor that I said had a popping noise actually didnt, the sound was from the speakers in the cabinet, the monitor is perfectly fine!! YAY! This monitor is a 19" inch WG 7000 series.

Do I need a new chassis for the 25" inch monitor????

I even tried to hook it up to the transformer that was powering the 19" inch. It did not turn on. Even though there was a flow of power going to it.

Have you checked out randy fromm's troubleshooting guide (its on his super secret server page--google that)  this will walk you though issues quite effectively. No power could be blown fuse, r103, HOT, voltage regulator or some caps.
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...
