Gateway Destination 36" color problem
« on: September 06, 2004, 01:55:45 pm »
I've got a Destination 36" monitor and the red is out on it.  All I have is blue and green.
I've only seen mention of this problem one other place online after a quick search and the rumor was it could be something as simple as a bad solder connection someplace.
Does anyone know anything about this, or where I should start if I wanted to try fixing it.
I've never had it repaired because I was worried about how much it might cost.

No one in the monitor forum knows anything about this?  :(
I suppose most of the experts here are experts in arcade monitors.  Anyone know where else I might ask for help?

If the blue is out then it can be any number of things.  If you do not feel comfortable toying with the insides to find out.  Contact a TV repair person.  They usually deal with items like this.  You could also contact Gateway to see if they have had any similar instances.

Red is out, but yeah, same difference.  :)
I'll see if there is a TV repair place in town, I haven't done anything with it yet cuz I'm afraid of breaking it, hurting myself or both.  THanks.  I'll let ya know how it goes.

If just one color is out, have you thought about the possibility of a bent pin? Sometimes when connecting up a VGA plug, not all the pins fit neatly into their respective sockets. The result is a bent pin that gets pushed down into the bottom of the plug. Depending on the pin, you can have varying results. Depending on the pin, that could mean the loss of certain colors. Check it out! (Hope I didn't post here too late if that really is the problem.)
