Can mame save games?

Does this include saving for mame, nes ,snes, etc???

Can memewah run mame roms and nes roms and snes roms in the same game list?

Can mamewah run the amiga games?

Anyone had any prior hickups with these problems? I am keen to run amiga/snes/nes games and would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in advance guys/gals, Adzza.

Mamewah doesn't save games. The individual emulators for the systems you referred to may or may not do that. A front end is really a program to launch those emulators running the games from a list you've specified.

Seriously though, you've got to do more research. The only thing as bad as a newbie asking questions is someone more in the know absuing them for it but gees....this really is a case of read the manual first.

I've gone from never owning a PC in my life (I'm 27) to bieng able to run all the emulators/software I need in about 2yrs of casual reading and messing about. Of course I've asked many questions, some silly, and will probably again though a lot of the time you can find your own answers to things like this quicker than posting here.

You'll get more help if people can see you've tried to fix something yourself too.

Good luck.

Gee, Im sorry Fuzz. Is this the "software help" forum where you post for help with software, or the "i should know it all forum cause i have already read the manual" forum. If people can't ask questions, why even have a forum??? Maybe i have read the "manual", did not cross any information about this topic, or it did not sink in,  and decided to ask most of the friendly and great people at the BYOAC forum. Thanks so much for your help Fuzz.

While admiteddly Fuzz's comments were a bit on the harsh side, I have to agree.

Your questions show a distinct lack of average knowledge about emulators and front ends.  While there is nothing at all wrong with this, forums like this appreciate people who try to find answers for themselves, and then ask about things they cannot otherwise figure out.

You could say you read the manual, but it is clear you did not.  Mamewah can run multiple emulators, as has been stated on many posts and many websites.  Games from different emulators must be on differnent lists, you can't combine them to one large list (at least not currently)

You really should read up on emulators, and what they actually do.  With that info, you honestly will be able to answer a lot of questions for yourself.  Plus, its been my experience that reading up on just general information will answer your questions, and dozens more that you never even thought of.  I constantly read new things and say "so THAT is how its done."

I hope I came off a bit friendlier, but you will find a decent group of people here who also feel as fuzz does.  The forum has the information so that it can be a single source for all the info you need... all you have to do sometimes is search it out ;)

Good luck, MameWah is really pretty easy to set up once you get into it.  Read up on screenshotarchive.com as well about how to set up other emulators.  You can also try the MameWah setup program.

I do have a good knowledge of emulators and am more than familiar with pc's. I figured because I am busy at work, I would make a quick post and see what the mame community has to say. It is a real shame that someone cannot post a question on a forum without being told they should read more...or they should do more research. Maybe I am going insane but I thought the point of a forum was to be able to post a question/idea and hope someone else can answer it or provide some help. Maybe the people that have absoulutly nothing better to do with their time pick on newbie questions? If all you guys can do is reply about my questions, rather than helping me, why wirte anything at all?

I am a member of many forums, and see this all the time. I try to help people out no matter what they ask. Maybe some people just need a point in the right direction. Maybe some people are slow to catch on. These are the reasons people like Fuzz have no respect for.  Maybe I am just the only person on a forum to have the balls to say it, but these people really piss me off.

A forum is about contributing for the better, not for frowning down on people and telling them they really need to do more research! Wasnt my questions good enough for Fuzz? Should I have been more knowledgable before i ask a question. How stupid.

If you cannot already tell I am pissed off, and think people should pay a little more respect in their replys. Maybe I will think twice before I contribute to this forum again.

I hope someone that reads this takes something from it, and thinks twice before replying to a question.

Instead of just yelling at how people make fun of newbies, why not actually look in my post?  I answered most of your questions.  Don't turn against a forum because you didn't like one person's reply. :)

If you are familiar with emulators, you should realize that their job is to EMULATE the actual console.  Therefore, if a console had a saving mechanism of some sort, it is a good possibility that the emulator will be able to save.  Why a frontend, which, when stipped down to it, is nothing but a fancy GUI, would have anything to do with this is beyond me.  Ideally, you want to find emulators that have a save function and remappable controls so you could create a save button on your CP

Go to screenshotarchive.com... they have emulators specific for mamewah, and ways to set them up, and faqs, and layouts.  It's been discussed here a lot which is why I also said you might be better off reading some more.

You are right.. forums are for getting questions answered... but when a question is asked for the 30th time in a week, people may get aggravated.  That is why forums have FAQs, stickies, and info posts.  All forums have those "same old questions" that people get sick of.  If you're a member of a lot of forums, you know this.

I think all it comes down to is people should try to search before making a new post... it's really not that difficult, or more time consuming.

Ohhhh boy, this is an utter classic.

Adzza please, use the search option to pull up all my old posts. Have  a quick read and I'm sure you'll see I'm usually most polite. Just a few minutes earlier I replied in great detail to something just to assist a total stranger. Heck I even make an effort to get punctuation reasonable.

Then re-read my reply here:

Mamewah doesn't save games. The individual emulators for the systems you referred to may or may not do that. A front end is really a program to launch those emulators running the games from a list you've specified.

You'll find I actually have answered your first question in a quite clear and informative manner. Not only that, but in the following sentences I even tried to identify with you, telling what I've done in the past, admitted that I've also asked similar questions. Hell, I even wished you good luck.

What more did you want?

One of these  :-*?

It's nice to see you read my post, nicer to see you've given it so much attention but disappointing you got all hot headed and missed the point.

I was trying to help you out, with a way in which to help yourself. You are merely trying to blow things up now I'm afraid.

Trust me when I say if I'd intended to let you have it I would have begun by picking at the way in which you failed to even spell Mamewah correctly.

It's amusing to me now that you've gone to the effort to edit your post (anyone coming into the story from here on should know it was originally much more pathetic) yet you've still misspelled it again on attempt number two.

I love how you've changed the main question to "Can mame save games?". It seems you did find some help in my reply after all as you know realise the emulators themselves do that....or did it take until you read Pointda's effort for that to sink in?

And, yeah- now I'm bieng harsh. I think it's pretty obvious why.

wow, I see this type of thing happens at every forum out there.  Silly question, followed by a reasonable answer with a suggestion that they learn to help themselves (ya know the old saying, give a man fish.. and all that) then they blow up about it, change their original post to make you look like a jerk, and then wonder later why no one likes them.  I sympathize with ya Fuzz.. happens to me all the time.

Although, here's a n00bish question of my own that's similar to this topic: Is there any way to get one of the many varieties of mame to save the high score list?  I've just recently gotten into mame, and I seem to remember some mention of this feature (although I can't remember if it exists, was desired, or was in development).

hahaha...what a classic case you are fuzz. It seems that even though I went to the effort to change my original post to something that might seem a little less "newbieish" and more up to your standard, you still want to give me ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---. I thought, hey, he's right, Mamewah is a front end and Mame is an emulator, I will change that. But i also thought, would it be that hard for you to say "Hey adzza, welcome to BYOAC. Try the stickies, or the FAQ for this kind of help. Enjoy."

Even thought I changed my post, you still want to rub salt in the wound.

and i quote

"

so now I am a pathetic for asking a newbie question??? Is that the impression you are trying to give newbies that want to ask questions at BYOAC? or maybe I ask pathetic questions that are too good for you to answer? And maybe you should check your own spelling (in Italics above) before commenting on someone elses mate. People could be nicer to each other. It's not hard.

adzza, knock it off.  Seriously.  Even if you were in the right at the beginning, you're just being an idiot right now.  One of the key points in any debate (if you can call it that) is knowing when to stop.  For you, that was a couple posts back.

Yeah, no matter who's right or wrong it's still disappointing to me that I'm now involved in one of the very few arguments I've seen here.

So here's a belated; "Hey adzza, welcome to BYOAC. Try the stickies, or the FAQ for this kind of help. Enjoy."

The others are actually who's right. Time to get past this one.

Hope you get the answers you need here in the future and best wishes with any project you might have coming up.
