Weird issue with monitor.
« on: August 30, 2004, 09:18:32 pm »
I have a Tekken 2 machine with a 25" monitor.  When I play it about a couple of minutes into the game the picture will sorta shake around on me.  This lasts maybe 30 seconds or so and is just sorta annoying.  After that the monitor seems to be fine.  It's sort of like the monitor is getting interference from something, but I can't imagine what and why it would only do it for a short time.  Is this a sign of something?

Also, how long can I leave the game on without getting screen burn?  I usually shut it off when I'm not home.  Is it okay to leave it on all day when I am home?

Thanks for any help!

I've seen that a lot lately on Wells Gardner K46xx series monitors that shake the top half of the monitor (if mounted horizontally).  Usually twisting/reseating the anode cap (WARNING..dont touch it if you dont know the risks) clears it up. Might be the same for your monitor?

I don't know about the monitor "shaking" but it could be interference or a bad sync cable hooked up to it.  Are your connectors tight? Are you punching it and it does it? Da Guru knows about that stuff, he might be right.

As for leaving it on, they leave monitors on for weeks at a time.  New PCB's have the demo mode that acts like a screen saver.  It's safe to leave it on for quite some time (years?)

Yeah, if I bang on my control panel it'll do it!  The controls for the monitor are located right beneath the control panel, mounted to the side of the cabinet.  Could that be the problem?
