MAME: Top Player's Golf (Neo Geo MVS)--not working properly?

In several versions of MAME, Top Player's Golf Neo Geo MVS has always had the glitch of when hitting the ball and it goes to the overhead screen to show the path of the ball, the screen is scrambled, then eventually goes back to normal.  It is this way for every shot.  Is this what everyone else has found?  Is it a bad rom on my part or just a fault in the game itself at this point?  Just wondering.  Thanks.

I just tried mine out. When I was on the screen where you "aim" the shot, the screen was screwed up. But, I hit the ball and it was clear again until the "aim" screen again....Dunno.

BTW, I have mame.84 I think
