Serious problem with Gunbird 2!
« on: August 28, 2004, 04:19:44 am »
Okay, I'm running Gunbird 2 with MAME, and I'm having a serious problem with it.  Here's what happens:

I launch the game, hit coin insert a few times, and hit player 1 start.  I then select my character with the joystick, and hit button 1.  The game begins, I'm controlling my character, unleashing mayhem on the beautifully rendered world, and all is well.  Eventually, I run out of lives, and get Game Over.  If I've made a highscore, I enter my initials.

This is where the problem happens.  After entering initials (or not), I immediately reach up and hit player 1 start a couple times (once to get back to the start menu, and again to start).  This starts the game up again, and I repeat the whole process.

The problem I'm having is that this process repeats indefinitely.  For the life of me, I haven't figured out a way to not hit player 1 start after I get the Game Over.  This wouldn't be such a big issue, except that I'm hungry, I really have to pee, and I'm pretty sure my wife is, ummm, gone.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.  :(

I would post this at the mametesters.  Sounds like a good mame bug.

bug first make sure to delete all gunbird2 cfg, nv, ect files (all generated non-rom gunbird files.

Also, you might want to update your hiscores.dat file (since its happening around the hiscores... but don't know why)

If it keeps it up, fidn the mame testers board and see if anyone mentions it there.

btw, at work...can't test it now.

Well, I was making a joke, but it is a little buried in details, so I can see how it could be missed.  Then again, maybe Lilwolf is just playing along, and being very very subtle.  In any case, I do appreciate him taking the time to reply.  And, hey, if the mametesters have a fix for compulsive game addiction, I'm all ears.  ;)

... no comment...

I thought the repeating wasn't including actually playing the game :)
