Problems with my monitor 19k4601 and advancemame
« on: August 24, 2004, 01:19:05 am »
ok i have a galaxian cabinet that i got out of a warehouse raid this past month and while the cab was in great condition for sitting around for at least 10 years i have decided to mame it and only use games that use the original CP. IE Galaga and galaxian. Also the game didnt come with the pcb this is why im mamign it. Now the problem with this is i want to use dos and advmame as this worked best in my other mame cabinet but when i goto run advcfg the initial video that it gives me to adjust dosent sync in. and if i try to adjust it it will go out of range and advcfg will boot me to dos with an error. anything i do it will not sync in. is their something i can do to get this to work. Also it will be in sync when in arcadeos and dos. and even in advcfg but it willnot sync in when trying to adjust the video.

adjust your pclock, hclock values--you are likely trying to run values outside your monitors comfy zone--i can't tell you which ones, you just have to fiddle with it.  maybe someone with a 4601 will help you out in this regard
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

ok i figured out the problem. Advancemame uses a negative sync and what was setup was a positive sync. i had to change the card in the monitor chassis though as it only had the positive sync on it. fortantly i had a wells 4603 and the card out of that worked great. only thing now is the video kinda wants to jump like a horizontal hold issue but it dosent usually jump. any answers for this
