I recently got a cab with a dead monitor for a pretty good deal. Really all I wanted was the cab but I figured even if I didn't get the monitor working I'm not really out anything for what I paid for it.
Anyhow when I got the cab home it had the manual for the monitor inside. The monitor looks really new and the CRT has no burn at all which is nice. The Manual and the boards say it's a videomaster 19" (the board says videomaster 13) but it's a 19" CRT. I've done some searching online and from what I can tell Wico makes video master. I also found a manual for a Kortex Imerperial monitor online which is EXACTLY the same as the one I have for my video master (board layout and all). Only difference is it says imperial on the cover.
http://www.arcadehelp.com/manual/monitor/Kortek/Imperial.pdfAnyhow I went though Randy Fromms handy dandy flow chart on monitor troubleshooting and I determined that the flyback is bad. I see bob roberts has flybacks for a kortek but no videomasters. Does anyone know if this will work?
Secondly, more important actaully. I'm faily new at dealing with monitor repair and I'm pretty scared of this flyback and it's high voltage. I discharged the CRT, how concerned should I be about this flyback if I attempt to remove it. What safety procedures should I take to preform this safely?
Thanks
