Anyone using the Vision Pro 27"
« on: August 19, 2004, 11:52:34 pm »
Finished the panel and ready to start the cabinet and I was interested in the Vision Pro 27" model because of the higher resolutions supported.  My only
concern is it's lack of lower resolutions for older arcade games.  Does it lose
alot of the original look runnign at SVGA settings and what about the refresh rates.  Are you able to run the games out their regular setting regarding screen size ( do you have to stretch ? )  If anyone has this monitor, I'd appreciate any input as well as some other alternatives.  Also looking into the D9200, but was a bit turned away because of reported failures.

Thanks,

Tim

I used a vp27" in one cabinet.  The first one that arrived worked for around an hour then died.  Had to get it replaced.  Was a pain, but I ended up with a replacement.

It did the job ok.  I was not super impressed or anything, but it is a good choice if you want to run higher res stuff like pinmame or pc games.  If you are just going to do mame and daphne, then a standard res monitor and arcadevga is fine.  The VP may come in cheaper than a new 27" and arcadevga though.
Oh, the memories of living on pizza subs and Dr Pepper...
