Cap Kits and schematics
« on: August 19, 2004, 02:02:25 pm »
Where could I get a cap kit and/or locate a schematic for the following B/W monitor?

TEC TDY-1005M
3021009

Thanks for any help, I check bobroberts website but it doesn't list this monitor...

Not a single result on Google when searching for "TDY-1005M".

Happy hunting :)

Likely you'll have tp pull the board, note the cap values, and put together your own 'kit.'

I see bob roberts has a kind of mixture of caps for $7.50  maybe I could just order that and kinda hope for the best...

Am I correct in saying that the model/type listed on the tube is not the monitor you need for the capkit? Cause I found the TEC TDY-1005M on a small yellow tag laying in the bottom of the cabinet.  Here are some shots of the monitor PCB, maybe someone might recognize it. (wishful thinking ;) )

And is a short video showing the problem with the monitor kind of jumping around.  It progressively gets worse the longer the game is on until it eventuall just starts to break up entirely...  I played with all the various pots on the board except the one in the center of the PCB. I can't reach that one safely :-)

BTW ignore the noise in the background, it's just my dog having a drink of water :D

I know what you have. It's either a TEC model TM-600 (19") or TM-623 (22" or 23"). Manuals should be at mikesarcade.com

The last address I had for TEC was this from 20 years ago:

TEC Videoelectronics, Inc.
3010 Scott Blvd.
Santa Clara, Calif. 95050
(408) 246-5428

I'm sure the area code has changed over the years.

Check the foil side for bad solder joints.

WARNING: This chassis is well known for suddenly catching fire!  :o

Did I mention checking the solder joints?

I see that Bob Roberts has capkits for this chassis and I would strongly suggest getting that capkit pronto as some of the original caps actually catch fire. The replacement caps are much higher ratings so once you get those in you'll be ok.

Glad to help.  ;D

These monitors were not very popular at all. The only games I ever saw them on were Atari Starship 1 and Atari Super Bug.
