settled with using MAME 83 :-(
« on: August 18, 2004, 10:12:54 pm »
Has anyone at all been able to get AdvanceMame 84 or above to work with ArcadeOS?  If you have please let me know how in the world you were able to get a roms list for Mame in ArcadeOS.
With Mame83 it works fine (although doesn't actually play any games without an error).  I have gone down the road of different ROM/ROMS dir names, Legacy Roms selection on and off, etc.  It all comes down to ArcadeOS INSISTING on using XML2INFO...  it just plain will not work under DOS... Why does ArcadeOS want to use it?????  Beats me, XML2INFO is a Windows program.....
I really want to load up my cab with the latest and greatest versions, I don't really want to use Mame.83 when .86 is out.

If anyone has been able to use Mame 84 or able with ArcadeOS, please let me know the secret.  Feel free to send me your .CFG files, I'll gladly and willingly try them out on my system which is hooked up to a VGA monitor until I get everything squared away, then it will be hooked up to a WG 25" Arcade monitor.

 thanks to all in advance!

nope.  Doesn't work :-(

Do you have one that does work in DOS?

Looks like I might have to do something that I really really don't want to do, load Windows 98se and run MameWah.  MameWah's not the thing I don't want to do, it's Windows....

With ADVmame .83 I've gotten past the rom thing ( would love to use the latest verion of mame though), but now Arcade OS plays sound just fine, but Advance mame doesn't....  I've tried all the settings found in the FAQ's here and different drives, the whole gamut... no dice ;-(  I have a SoundBlaster PCI sound card... figured that would work, but now I'm pulling my hair out ;-(

I'd appreaciate any help offered.

I just tried the XML2INFO that comes with Dos mame .85, and it DOES indeed work under DOS.

So I'd assume that I can get the roms to display now under arcadeos, but then I'd still have to deal with the sound issue.

The machine I'm using is a Dell 733 Demension with a SB PCI sound card.

much thanks to those that have tried to help :-)
