Hantarex Monitor shaking?
« on: August 18, 2004, 08:59:43 am »
Hey again informative/knowledgeable types,

I've got a not obviously identifiable Hantarex monitor.
I was playing it this morning and the picture started shaking
from side to side rapidly.
It wasn't horrible, but quite noticeable.
Is there a term for this shaking, and hopefully a fix?

Any tips on identifying this 19" Hantarex would
also be great.

Thanks,

Matt

Post a small file size picture of the monitor's main circuit board.

Ken,

This is something I will do once I find a way to make my
digicam work.  This will be accomplished today.

Ken,

I wanted to keep the small print legible, so I'll just link to them.
Hope they are sufficient.

You have a Hantarex model MTC 900/E. I have written a repair guide in Microsoft Works format. You definitely need a capkit for this monitor. This monitor needs a lot of capacitors and that is your shaking problem. I made a list of caps and it uses 29 caps! Zanen Electronics and Bob Roberts has kits for this model. My advise would be get a capkit installed very soon. If you leave it this way it will take out the vertical deflection IC3 (TDA2653A) and resistor R56.

Ken,

Ah, the 900/E.  I actually stumbled upon a manual in PDF format earlier, and was hoping that was the model.  Thanks for the identification.

As far as the cap replacement kit goes, is there a way to receive a copy of your repair guide?
Also, is the process of installing a cap kit complicated?  I am not a very effective solderer, and have been spooked into total fear of the discharge process.

I may go ahead and order the cap kit soon.

Thanks,

Matt
