It usually takes a little while for the DOS port be completed. I'm sure that with all the new config changes in .85 it's taking a little longer than usual. Be patient and it should show up shortly.
I'm not sure if xml2info was ever ported to DOS. As far as I know, its Windows command line only. But then again, I've been wrong in the past...

The one that I've been able to dig up from an italian site that had .84 dos mame wasn't able to run in DOS.

My question now would be how can I create a list of MAME roms under DOS and ArcadeOS now with .84 and above?  Even ArcadeOS calls -listxml | xml2info .... in order to generate the rom list.

Is there any other way to create this list for ArcadeOS?  I've been fighting with arcadeOS for days now and have finally tracked it down to advancemame not having xml2info, and now I find that xml2info won't work in DOS mode :-(
At least I'm making progress :-)

My only problem is that arcadeOS won't show a ROM list for Mame, once that's done I can throw the computer into the cab and play away :-)

I don't have a list, I'm trying to generate the rom list.  the XML2INFO that I have won't run under DOS, so how is it supposed to parse the XML file under DOS?

Could some kind and generous soul please attach a working XML2INFO.EXE that will work under DOS and AdvanceMame .84 please?

OR  Is there any other way to generate this ROM list that ArcadeOS can read?  Is anyone NOT using XML2INFO, running AdvanceMame .84 and ArcadeOS 2.5.1?  If so, could you please attach (or send me directly) your CFG files for ArcadeOS soI can see exactly how your pulling it off?  If you're using another program, please attach that as well if you can.

thanks for all the help guys and gals!  I'm sure we'll find a solution somehow :-)

Hey mike!
I guess you may have gotten it to work now, but I agree with your idea...I was able to get the roms to show up and screen shots by adjusting the filters, but then Id only get filenames. By copying the .85 xml2info to my mame directory, erasing all my .lst files, and running arcadeos again, I was able to regenerate the full rom list complete with game info and full names!
I assume youve gotten there as well, but I thought id let everyone know, that arcadeos 2.51 and advmame .85 ARE compatable and take a bit of "dicking" around, but they work great!
Thanks to EVERYONE who aided in helping me, and if I can help anyone PLEASE dont hesitate to ask!! ;D ;)

Hi Vette!
I actually admitted defeat after the soundsblaster PCI card that I had refused to play any sound in Mame.  I had all the settings correct as far as I could tell, AOS2.5.1 played sound through it, even the Soundblaster DOS tests all worked fine but ADVmame simply refused to play any sounds whatsoever :-(

My system is now running XP prof, with mameWah and everything is working like a champ... this way I'll be able to hook up a pair of lightguns to my cab as well.  There aren't any DOS drivers for the act-labs lightguns, so that was a negative on the DOS side.  I'll also be able to remote into the XP machine using remote desktop or VNC and perform maintenance functions, updates, etc to the system.

But, it also looks like I'll have to upgrade from a PIII 800 (my Dad had a 800 socket 370 chip for me, thanks Dad!  You're never too old to call your Dad, "Dad" either BTW!  I'm 35 and he'll always be Dad to me <grin>).  that 800 Mhz was a slight bump up from the 733 that I was running.  I'll hunt down a cheap 1.00Ghz or 1.2 Ghz socket 370 chip within a couple months or so (anyone have one laying around they wanna sell real cheap? my cabinet buget is down to the last Jackson :-(
I also had to pick up an ArcadeVGA card from Ultimarc :-(

The cab's almost done though, this weekend it will be, except for the final lexan/plexi marquee and CPO.... Side Art is gunna hafta wait a bit too.

Mike,
Yah I hear yah, I guess I just got lucky on some of my settings or something. I am eventually thinking of going mamewha and an arcadevga too in the future. I just wanted to see if I could get this thing going first. The only thing im concerned with is the "realistic feel" that may be lost by having an windows based system. Although, my combination needs it more than dos. I threw my 1900xp with 512ddr, and a sblive to power it. I know that most of the ram is unused at this point, thats for later upgrades.
Glad your up and running now though!
So what are you doing for sideart then? custome? Where you getting that at?
