New WG D9200 Setup, HELP!
« on: August 10, 2004, 11:36:01 pm »
Ok I ordered a WG D9200 27" screen back in January, and I am just getting it installed tonight.  I replaced my EYGO 27" with this one.  I used the supplied VGA cable and connected it to my video card (Radeon 128), and the supplied power cable and plugged it into the molex on the board and grounded it on a screw on the side.  When i power up the PC, the monitor gets power automatically from a relayed switch.  It flickers, and the tube in the back glows a yellow-ish orange.  There is a RGB color bar vertically down the right side of the CRT.  It flickers a couple more times, but stays black.  The on-screen menu system works fine (though there is no "down" microswitch...its like its missing, is this normal??).  That is all I get?  I am really wanting to get this puppy running tonight!  Any ideas / suggestions?  My monitor didn't come with a manual or anything like that.  HELP I AM DESPARATE!  Thanks in advance!

Make absolutely sure your system is running at a 640x480 resolution.  Next check your video cable.  Yank the one off your pc if necessary.  If that doesn't fix the problem then you should probably call wells gardner.

That is strange, the d9200 is supposed to give an "Out of Range" on the display if the signal is out of range and a "no signal" if there is no signal.  Definitely check for a bent pin on the cable.  try it on another pc if available as well.

well, shoot.  I was afraid of this....i will test both of your suggestions and post back.  If it turns out to be a faulty monitor, can anyone tell me how good WG support is on things like this??

The Out of Range signal isn't awfully reliable.  BTW, mingetty ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingetty/ ) allows for autologin.  A very grovy feature.  I didn't see the question in your last post until a few days later. But if your still looking for a solution, it works perfectly.

1:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty1 --autologin root

RESOLVED!!  I started poking around the back a little more and noticed that the cable that plugs into the VGA connector board was plugged into a connector labeled "EGA/CGA".  Right next to that connector is one the same sized labeled "VGA".  I swapped that cable, and boom!  I am working like a charm!  This monitor is sweet, it really puts the old EGYO to shame!  Check my new post for another question about this monitor...thansk for all the help!

Hmmmm, thats strange...my vga connector is all by its lonesome.  There are a row of pins for some type (molex?) of connector for strict 15/25Khz input.  Maybe mine is the new style since I got it around June?

Could be, there is a second row right next to (actually it is the same connector with a blank space between the sets up pins).  Mine was purchased about 8 months ago, so perhaps they have switched thier design since then?

Hey whammoed,

Must be a new design. I picked-up my D9200 last Thursday from Starburst (in Toronto) and it only has the one VGA connector.
