Mortal Kombat Scratch Built
« on: August 09, 2004, 02:41:25 pm »
Hi all, I don't know if you remember this one

http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=19495

That was my first machine that I built a few months ago - thought it was pretty good until I saw the pac-man that Oscar built a month later- your the man Oscar.

Anyway, my cousin who had no interest in arcade machine at all played my pac-man machine and was hooked! Next day he called me and said he wanted to build one. A few weekends later and this is what we've got. It's an MK1 machine - the original with the 45 degree front kick plate. Not the straight one that they used for mk2 and up. Yes, those 45's were hard to make for 2 amateurs and anyone else who has made a similiar cab I would love to hear what you did to construct them.

Me and my cousin are looking for theme ideas for the cabinet and also for a name so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone here know how to make a bezel for a 25 inch tv, or where I can buy one? Is there a difference in screen curvate between a 25 inch arcade monitor and tv? Could I just buy an arcade bezel? Thanks Jakobud for the great plans and Oscar, how about not showing me up this time?

Awesome! Did you go off of some existing measurements or just eyeball it?

I guess you didn't want to go with the MK CP set up though eh?  :P

EDIT) I see you thank jakobud for the "plans" -- are they available online? This is very close to what I want to do as well.

Blasphemy!

A MK machine without the proper button configuration...

I'm just bustin' your balls though, I know that the X of buttons is exactly mame friendly.

Nice lookin cab BTW.
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen
