Lots of Mamewah questions. Also, no trackball in game?
« on: August 08, 2004, 04:19:33 pm »
Using windows XP, mamewah.

#1 - Somehow I have no snap folder, but my artwork folder is full of zips (what are these? I set it as artwork directory, but nothing ever shows up). I could have sworn I downloaded a HUGE snap .zip file once, but I can't find it now, anyone have a link so I can finally have some screenshots to see while picking a game?

#2 - Trackball works fine in windows XP, I load up a game, and it controls by joystick (millipede for example) and trackball does nothing.

#3 - Is there ANY documentation as to how to use mamewah? I have mamewah setup and that's just as confusing to me. Took me forever just to figure out how to quit, no idea how to load custom lists, make custom lists, how to open the options menu (I did it once on accident, and forgot) Once I open mamewah, the only thing I know how to do is scroll one game at a time, one page at a time, select game, quit mamewah. That's it.

Also having TV issues, but I'll bring that over to the monitor or main board. (Seems squiggly, hates being set at 640/480 res. etc)

ok lets see if I can help alittle.

1.  your pictures cannot be in zip format.

2.  What I do for this problem is I was using Mame32 and I configured all my games with mame32.  I.E.  In mame32 it has an option to play the game with Trackball or Keyboard. So All games I knew I wanted to use trackball on I went it and changed to trackball.  and used that config file for the mame I use with mamewah.(Im sure there is a easier way but since I was use to Mame32 I just did it that way)

3. Read the "README FILE" that came with mamewah.  It has everything you need to know(pretty Much)  atleast how to make custom list and the such.

1.  As stated above, you'll need to unzip your artwork into the folder and point Mamewah to the folder.

2. create a mame.ini file and set mouse to "1".  To create a mame.ini file go to a command prompt and type: mame -cc
This ini file will also enable you to set all your other mame options.

3. I have a small tutorial on how to setup mamewah using the config files.  There are also some demonstration videos showing how to create custom lists and change layouts.  Look here: http://www.screenshotarchive.com/mwtutorial.htm

There is also a whole bunch of stuff right in this very forum.  Read back a few pages and you'll probably find that all your questions will be answered.  ;)

Just to add, the artwork folder you have is for in-game artwork required by some games.  Leave that as-is (ie zip files).

Yeah I managed to find the snaps online after signing up for stupid gamespy account (using a spam e-mail address of course)

The whole thing is up and going enough now, I've managed to start figuring most of it out.
