How to make Beats of Rage DC readable?
« on: August 07, 2004, 01:49:09 pm »
I have downloaded the Beats of Rage homebrew DC version, and would like to make it playable on my DC.  Does anyone know how this is done?

It's been many moons since I burned my copy, so I don't remember the gory details, but...

It comes as a zip or rar archive that contains a disk image (.CDI format). I used Alcohol 120% to burn the image to disk but you can probably also use Nero, Disk Juggler, CDRWIN or something like that. The result is a DC readable CDR.

If it does not boot itself (I don't remember if it does or doesn't), then get a copy of the Utopia boot disk (you can download a copy from the usual places) or get a similar boot disk package. Boot from Utopia and then insert the BOR disk when prompted and the game will load.

If BOR is not a self boot, and you want it to be, I believe you can build your own bootable version using a development kit that's available on the net. I've never tried to do it, but I beleive that it's possible.

Great game by the way. They really nailed the spirit of the Genesis Streets of Rage series. It really has the feel of an unreleased commercial follow-on -- moreso than the feel of a home-brew game. A necessary addition to any DC game library.

all you do is download ALL of the rar files once you have all of the click extract on rar one.

after its done unzipping itself the open up alchol120% or nero burning rom burn it at 4x or lower the pop in your DC and play.

dont follow the guides on beatsofrage site as its WRONG..

Thank you so much for the information.  After creating several coasters using other programs, Alchohol 120% made a perfect copy the first time.  :)
